A gem within the green jewel of Brunei, Tamu Bangar (Temburong’s main market) is a local haven for affordable local dishes and produce. Strike up conversation with the friendly stall owners as you walk through the colorful array of fruits, vegetables and best-selling foods like appetizing salted duck eggs and the famous Wajid Jawa Temburong, which is sweet glutinous rice wrapped up in a leaf. Besides must-try delicacies, one can also find beautifully hand-woven rattan baskets by locals who have spent years perfected their method. Now that’s a souvenir that’s worth hanging on to!
